As we reflect on another successful study abroad experience, we are pleased to look back on the arrival of the Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Study Abroad 2026 cohort, who joined the College of Business and Law at Coventry University for their induction in January 2026.
The induction marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the students, who brought enthusiasm, curiosity and a strong commitment to learning. As College Director of International Partnerships, I had first met this cohort in December 2024 during their second year of study in Malaysia. It was therefore a real pleasure to welcome them to Coventry in January and witness how much they had developed since our first meeting.
Throughout their time at Coventry University, the students embraced new academic opportunities, engaged with campus life and contributed positively to our diverse international community. We hope their study abroad experience has enriched both their academic knowledge and personal development, creating lasting memories and friendships.
Looking back, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the January induction programme such a success. In particular, my thanks go to Dr Prabhu Sri Nilanga Udawatte, Sarah Horton-Walsh, Dr Tharaa Subramaniam, Dr Ukamaka Nwanekezie, Josh Lee, the Lanchester Library Team, the Centre for Academic Writing Team, the Success Coach Team, and Shi Yee (Jean) Tan for providing such a warm welcome and excellent support.
Now that the students have completed their study abroad programme and returned home in May 2026, we wish them every success in the next stage of their studies and future careers. We hope they will always remain part of the Coventry University global community and look forward to seeing all that they achieve in the years ahead.
